The Lewis Winch Company is primarily a marketing company that stocks and distributes Lewis Winch Products worldwide.

The famous chainsaw-powered portable Lewis Winch is one of our products www.LewisWinch.com - along with its full line of accessories, including an ingenious Lewis Ground Anchor mount.

The company, Lewis Winch Inc. was formed in 2002 when the owner of the manufacturer of the Lewis Winch decided to retire and close the company in Medford, Oregon, USA. 


Through word of mouth, a small manufacturing company in British Columbia, Canada (called Cannon Manufacturing Ltd.) heard of the closure and decided that an opportunity presented itself to form a new company. And so, the production of this well-proven 50 year-old product continued, but in a new and improved plant located close to Vancouver, Canada.

The Lewis Winch Company also distributes the Lewis Multi-Drill, another great chainsaw powered attachment built to last, just like the Lewis Winch.

The Lewis Multi-Drill is a powerful, portable drill that is driven by any chainsaw engine. Like the Lewis Winch, this chainsaw drill has a long and famous past.


The Lewis Multi-Drill was originally called the Cannon Tree Planter, and it was manufactured and marketed by a sister company to Lewis Winch Inc., Cannon Manufacturing Ltd. , which continues to manufacture Lewis Winch products.

The Cannon Tree Planter was designed to run an earth auger to drill holes in the earth to plant trees on a tree farm.

Like the Lewis Winch, it conveniently uses a chainsaw as a drive-motor. The Tree Planter has been uninteruptedly manufactured by Cannon Manufacturing for more than 40 years, so it also is very well-known product.

The Lewis Winch Company decided to rebrand the Cannon Tree Planter when several improvements were implemented into the product line. They renamed the new product, the Lewis Multi-Drill, www.LewisMultiDrill.com


When these improvements were made, the Lewis Winch Company felt they could present their customers with a complete portable drilling system that once attached to a chainsaw would exceed their expectations for power, speed, durability and ease of use.

 One of the major improvements to the line was the adding of a new Direct Drive version to compliment the original Universal Drive.

The new Direct Drive gives the customer the same rugged bullet proof gearbox only with a convenient and compact 4 bolt direct mounting arrangement, making it an easy tool to use even for an un-experienced homeowner.


In addition, the Lewis Multi-Drill now has its own complete line of Lewis Earth Augers, Ice Fishing Augers and Wood Drilling options.

The Lewis Winch Company now offers the world a complete system of  a portable chainsaw-powered winch, that will pull up to 8000 pounds, and also a chainsaw-powered drill that will run earth augers, ice augers and wood drills.
